Two early mornings in a row to paint.....what a treat! My husband offered to take the children to school and do the morning run (as I call it) through all the rush hour traffic....so I got to have an extra hour to paint early in the morning.....lucky me! These Autumn mornings are beautiful!

Thirteen years ago today a gorgeous little boy came into our lives and we have been blessed and our lives made richer ever since! I became a Mommy, an indescribable honor and privilege. Ross Shedlock, you have taught us how to love beyond measure and as much as we teach you our values as parents, you too teach us so much more through your love, compassion and honest heart. You really are growing into an honorable young man and I could not write a blog post today without wishing you Happy 13th birthday. We look forward to exciting teenage years with you....today has been a day in honor of your birth! Happy birthday my  little man xxx

Our local market had a great flower special on the weekend. Two proteas for R25 and a bunch of roses for R20. So my house is full of flowers....that makes me happy!

Back to routine today! My children are back at school after a short break, my art classes started again this evening and life has slipped back into a familiar rhythm. The only downside is having to make up school lunch boxes in the mornings again (in South Africa our children take their own lunches to school, it is not provided by school).  So we are off to a good start to our second term....even if I have to think of healthy school lunches to pack before the sun is even up!

Grandpa's orchid #190

Today would have been my father-in-law Peter Shedlock's birthday. He is missed by us all, especially my husband and he has been in our thoughts all day! Orchids were his favorite flower, he loved to be surrounded by them and there was always one blooming in his home. So today ....an orchid....with love for you Grandpa Pete on your special day!
